Cyanotype on paper
In this series Visual Artist and Curator Anna Inkeri Björklund combines the traditional cyanotype technique with a modern theme. The works portray the artist underwear, referring to the used underwear market online, and are a commentary on the cultural cuts made in Finland. With this series, Björklund hopes to raise the subject of cultural funding and artists income.
The works are simultaneously humorous and political. They speak of the escalation attention economy in the post-internet era and what it means to be an artist in the midst of all this.
A part of the series has been exhibited in a summer exhibition at Kulma studio in Fiskars, Finland, 2025. Art critic Clara Walhström writes that the Statement Pieces are, among other things, technically impressive and convey a strong message (Västra Nyland, 16.7.2025).
